Hours of operation:
Mon-Fri: 8:00 am to 4:00 pm
Clerical staff work: Mon-Thurs: 7:30 am to 3:30 pm

Clinic Hours: 
Mon: 9:00 am to 12 noon
Wed: 9:00 am to 12 noon
Thurs: 12 noon to 3:00 pm

Referral process: Emergency room physician, specialists, family doctor complete a Stroke Prevention Clinic referral form and fax to number above  with a copy of a recent electrocardiogram,  blood work and if done results of CT head scan/carotid dopplers. Patients are triaged according to symptoms.  For those determined to be at high risk for stroke, an  appointment to the clinic will be made within one  week from the date of initial referral. The patient will be  sent a letter in the mail informing them of the  date/time of their appointment and the name of the neurologist who will be assessing them

Who we are: The clinic’s mission: To provide rapid access to early assessment, diagnostic testing and treatment for clients who have been identified as at high risk for stroke.

  • Quick access to diagnostic tests and if indicated, surgical consultation
  • Excellent source of information regarding latest evidence based care for acute stroke and  stroke prevention

All clinic services and testing are fully funded by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care.

Clientele served: Patients presenting with a TIA or minor stroke symptoms not requiring hospital admission or not requiring immediate neurological assessment. These would include patients who are experiencing any of the following symptoms:

  •  sudden weakness, numbness or tingling of one side of the body (face, arm or leg)
  • sudden trouble speaking or understanding speech (aphasia)
  • sudden blurred vision
  • loss of vision
  • sudden severe headache
  • sudden loss of balance
