Who we are: Our program operates within the Department of Psychiatry of McMaster University at St. Joseph's Healthcare, Centre for Mountain Health Services, with satellite clinics at Community Psychiatric Services and Health for Older Adults at St. Joseph's Healthcare as well as Haldimond-Norfolk and Niagara Adult Mental Health Offices. Our staff and students represent many health care disciplines including nursing, psychology, occupational therapy, rehabilitation and recreational therapy, social work and medicine. The services offered at the Mood Disorders Program are enhanced by a strong academic foundation and an extensive research component ranging from basic research to testing of novel treatments and innovative services delivery models. What we offer: Our staff has recognized expertise in the biological and psychological treatment of Mood Disorders. We provide our services principally through consultation with your physician, offering advice regarding diagnoses and treatment. Follow up at our clinic is available on a limited basis.

We provide a comprehensive assessment and individualized treatment for clients with Mood Disorders through:

  • Accessible and effective consultation services

  • Case management

  • Case coordinating

  • Extensive discharge planning

  • Novel treatment options available through research

Confidentiality and informed consent are of utmost importance in any research conducted at the Mood Disorders Program.
