Who we are: Our goals are:
  • to improve the system of crisis intervention in the City of Hamilton by providing the necessary supports, range of services, and intervention to prevent further crisis.
  • to enhance the crisis intervention system to consumers that are unable or unwilling to use traditional crisis service.
  • to increase partnerships to services and propose resolutions to identify gaps in the system.
  • to increase consumer satisfaction.
  • to increase communication between service providers.
  • to improve the efficiency of Hamilton-Wentworth police in managing mental health crises.

What we offer: Mobile mental health crisis intervention for children/youth & adults.

Admission Requirements/Diagnostic Criteria:

  • consumers of all ages with a psychiatric history who are now in crisis
  • consumers of all ages who are agitated and demonstrating acting out behaviors which appear to be associated with a psychiatric disorder
  • consumers of all ages who are recently out of hospital who are not coping or who are not able to care for themselves
  • situational crisis
  • dual and multi-diagnosed consumers

Restrictions/Exclusions:

  • consumers of all ages whose primary problem in substance abuse (these should be referred to Drug and Alcohol resources or to  Withdrawal Centres)
  • consumers of all ages who are violent or have a predisposition to physical acting out behavior without a psychiatric disorder
  • consumers of all ages whose primary problem is one of accommodation and who show no evidence of psychiatric disturbance
  • consumers of all ages whose primary problem is cognitive impairment
