Who we are: The Arthritis Society's mission is to search for the underlying causes and subsequent cures for arthritis and to promote the best possible care and treatment for people with arthritis.

What we offer:
Client Services is a province-wide program employing, occupational/physical therapists and social workers to provide:

  • both case management and direct delivery of rehabilitation services. The goal of all programs is to promote and enhance client self-management. Treatment is not provided for acute or sub-acute musculoskeletal conditions (referral to an outpatient department is recommended).
  • education programs, developed, piloted and adapted by staff therapists for persons with various forms of arthritis. All group programs incorporate client satisfaction surveys.
  • consultation to other providers and agencies in the development of programs and services to meet the needs of their clients with arthritis.
  • clinical research using outcome measures to validate service delivery models, educational programs and rehabilitation interventions. This is accomplished in large measure through partnership with ACREU, the Arthritis Community Research and Evaluation Unit.
  • educational resources, programs and training for undergraduate and graduate health care professionals, Arthritis Society volunteers (aquatics programs, information line) and other health, social support and community agencies.
  • advocacy on behalf of people with arthritis. Staff and consumers with arthritis continue to represent this constituency on a variety of committees both provincially and nationally.

Client Services provides support and referral to the many programs that are available to clients with arthritis i.e. Arthritis Self Management Program (ASMP), Arthritis Public Forums, Volunteer Speakers Bureau, etc.
