Dr Augusta Marie Dejarie Klumpke (1859 - 1927) Although born in America she studied medicine in Paris to become the first woman to be named Interne des hospital. When her husband died in 1917, she carried on the bulk of his work in private practice and in research. She is known as a clinician and a neuropathologist. In 1885 she described the sympomatology of lower brachial plexus lesions.
