Dr Sigmund Freud (1886 - 1939) Born in Freiburg, Checeslovacia, Freud was influenced by Goethe's Di Natur to enter the field of medicine. While at the University of Vienna, he worked with Breuch in histology of the nervous system. Later he worked in anatomy at the Algenheim Krankenhous where he eventually qualified as a neuropathologist. Later he gravitated to Charcot in Paris but returned to Vienna to become Professor of Neuropathology in 1919. In this field he excelled in his studies on cerebral dislogia. He is the founder of psychoanalysis - his monumental work.
