The Problem: The description |
What We Do: Get a CT with and without contrast in the ER. These patients need to be loaded with Dilantin (not if the tumour is in the posterior fossa) and started on Decadron... usually a bolus of 10 to 20 mg then on to a regular dose. If you start someone on steroids, start them on Zantac as well. Posterior fossa tumours can cause obstructive hydrocephalus so be sure to check for hydro on the CT.
